Here you’ll find a growing list of European cities that (hopefully) will help you decide where you next vacay will be! I’ve literally kept the reasons to go down to bullet points as I know time is money, especially when airlines are liek to bump up their prices last minute 😉
Paris
All the information you need is here in the blog posts
Pros
- Paris at night= Beautiful
- The subways are easy to understand
- The people are friendly (don’t believe the stereotypes)
- Versailles isn’t hard to visit from Paris
- If under 25+ a student= lot of discounts for attractions
- Christmas markets! (When visiting during December)
- The catacombs are So cool to visit
- Beautiful graveyards (if that’s your thing)
Cons
- Food and accommodation is pretty expensive
- A dude did throw up on me in the metro (tell you about that later)
- Parisians do love their protests, which speaks to my millenial soul, but can mean disruption to your schedule if that is something you care about
Copenhagen
Pros
- No one threw up on me here
- Freetown Christiania- just look it up, its amazing!
- The Library bar
- Tivoli- has amazing rides and you can recreate that scene from the film Copenhagen. Totally check out this film if you haven’t before!
- The water is as clear and non-polluted as everyone says it is
- The Danish happiness is good to be around if you’re not feeling 100%
- They have pretty good hotdogs (not an innuendo)
- The bar Warpigs is pretty instagram worthy if you’re into alternative watering holes
Cons
- Again, pretty expensive. They gotta get that $$$ from you to be able to pay their bills somehow!
- Was still pretty cool when I went in Febuary, but be prepared for the cold and not much to do compared if you go in the summer. Better to go with a friend if planning a winter visit
Nice, France
Pros
- I went in December and it was such nice, mild weather. Which as someone who doesn’t like a ton of heat, it was yum
- You can rent bicycles which are all along the promenade and its so simple to do so when you know how! (I learnt how to ride a bike for the first time here)
- Really beautiful food that is more reasonably priced than Paris
- Castle hill will give you really beautiful views of all of Nice
- Monaco is just a bus ride away
- Palace Lascaris is free to visit if you’re a student and it is really worth a visit!
Cons
- Not really much of a party scene if that is what you’re after. Best to trot off to Monaco for that!
